LG + DESIGNERS

LG + NERO::LOOSH

Justyna of Nero::Loosh reached out on insta and said i’d like to send you this ring as a present. she did and when i saw it i loved it and wanted to create a photograph with it. to me, her pieces are very whimsical and abstract. her jewelry is made out of 3d metal printing that allows her to achieve all these striking shapes. Besides a great eye for design, she is an incredible businesswoman. I was inspired by her rings to do this photo of me with the polka dots. I have a fascination with polka dots due to japanese influence of Comme de Garson and Kusama. Justyna does a lot of orbs and circles so that spoke to me.

LG + JENNY ANDERSON

I met Jenny when I wore a piece from a designer friend of hers. I love the fact that Jenny’s pieces are big statement pieces that feel sculptural. They have an oxidized-like finish almost like raw metal. To me, it’s a mix of raw and luxury at the same time. her pieces have become an LG signature. I almost always wear her ring that looks like an oversize t and bangle bracelets. jenny also uses a lot of crosses in her designs which I also love. Sometimes people are reluctant to express their religious beliefs. but I could wear her jewelry and make a statement of “this is me.” I call this Diego Pernia photo image of me in the big cross “liberation.”

LG + GELARAH

Meeting Gerlareh was another one of those serendipitous moments. i was at paris fashion week and stopped by a showroom of some friends. I was immediately drawn to gelareh’s rack and she started crying. She had been collecting images of me from magazines, but I didn't know how to find me. I love how she does leather texture. she makes it feel alive. her handwork can make something simple look extraordinary. and even though her pieces are very strong, they give me a sort of calmness. it’s as though they capture some of her spirituality. I call the image of me with the tree on my face rebirth—the tree, the jewelry and I are coming alive.

LG + INTO INTO

I met INTO walking down the street when we were staying on the same block in Paris. She does this unique work with plexieglass and wood. Her pieces don’t look like they would be wearable, but instead look more like they could be decor in a house. She’s a special creature herself. She’s not only a jewelry designer, but does installation, sculpture, and film. She’s like a walking museum. My new favorites are the nail rings with precious stones. With them you don’t have to have your nails done. They are conversation starters. Every time I wear them someone stops me to see my nails. My image with the blue face in her rings was inspired by the movie Avatar. Her jewelry sends a message of “We are all unqiue and we should embrace that.”

LG + FOR THOSE WHO PRAY

I met “For Those Who Pray” by chance my last day at Paris fashion week on my way to a show. I was already dressed, but she came and met me with this incredible crown made of shoe heels, a necklace with horse hair, and leather bracelets. I immediately was stricken with the fact that the crown looked like a modern version of the statue of liberty. Here we were inside the Uber a few meters from the Eiffel Tower in France, the country that gifted the U.A. with the Statue of Liberty. It was epic. Her jewelry is comfortable and versatile and Her statement pieces are still very light. I don't feel like the jewelry is wearing me. My favorite piece is her tassel earrings. Of course I call the image of me in her crown liberty!
